Omar Abdullah Raises Concerns Over Suspicion Faced by Kashmiris After Delhi Blasts

Kashmiris continue to face unjust suspicion and stereotyping after major national incidents, prompting Omar Abdullah to call for fairness, sensitivity, and evidence-based investigations.

Omar Abdullah has consistently voiced concern over the way Kashmiris are treated whenever a terror attack or blast occurs in India’s metropolitan regions. After the Delhi blasts, he highlighted how the community—particularly students, migrant workers, and young professionals—becomes the first target of suspicion even before any concrete evidence is established. This widespread profiling not only affects their personal security but also damages their emotional well-being and trust in institutions.

Abdullah emphasized that such stereotyping fuels alienation and weakens national unity. According to him, investigations must be guided strictly by facts and should avoid blanket criminalization of any community. He also urged media platforms to refrain from sensationalizing speculation, as it contributes to public hostility and misinformation.

Furthermore, Abdullah reiterated that Kashmiris living outside the region contribute positively to education, business, and national development. Unfair suspicion puts them at risk of harassment, arbitrary questioning, and social isolation. He stressed the need for law-enforcement agencies to handle sensitive cases with balanced judgement and respect for constitutional rights.

He concluded by appealing for a more empathetic and inclusive mindset across the country, reminding people that suspicion based on identity alone weakens India’s democratic values.
