150 IndiGo flights cancelled as roster norms rock airline.
The airline faced a massive operational setback as new DGCA-imposed FDTL regulations reshaped pilot duty hours and rest periods. With mandatory 48-hour weekly rest and restrictions on night landings, IndiGo struggled to adjust its existing schedules. As a result, more than 150 flights were cancelled across major hubs including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
Passengers reported long queues, lack of timely communication, and delays extending over several hours. Many travellers complained that they received cancellation notices only minutes before boarding.
Apart from roster changes, technical glitches and airport congestion added to the crisis. The combination of strict rest rules, software disruptions, and limited backup crew exposed strategic vulnerabilities within IndiGo’s single-fleet operational model.
DGCA has now asked IndiGo to submit an action plan and provide fortnightly progress reports to prevent further disruption. Meanwhile, passengers have been advised to check flight status before leaving for the airport and expect continued delays until operations stabilise.
