A joyous wedding celebration pauses as health emergencies shake Smriti Mandhana’s family.
Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal had planned to get married on November 23, but their big day was abruptly postponed. The sudden cancellation came after Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, was hospitalized with chest pain resembling a heart attack.
On the very next day, Palash Muchhal too was admitted to a hospital in Sangli, following a bout of viral infection and increased acidity, according to reports. His mother, Amita Muchhal, later shared that although his tests came back normal, the stress of the wedding preparations had taken a heavy emotional toll on him.
Sources say that Smriti removed all her wedding-related posts — including the proposal video — from her Instagram after both health scares surfaced. The family has requested privacy as they focus on her father’s recovery.
Doctors treating her father revealed that his blood pressure was slightly elevated, and that he might need continued ECG monitoring or even angiography if required. For now, his condition is stable, and the family has postponed the wedding indefinitely.
Palash, after his hospital stay, returned to Mumbai and is now resting, according to his mother. The entire episode has deeply shaken both sides, pausing what was to be a blissful union.
