US Deports Indian Migrants on C-17 Military Aircraft in First Mass Repatriation Since Trump’s Return

Concerns over illegal Indian immigration to the US have been voiced by both Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump.

US Deports Indian Migrants on C-17 Military Aircraft in First Mass Repatriation Since Trump’s Return

A US official informed on Monday that a US military plane had taken off carrying illegal migrants to India. He stated that although the C-17 plane took off with migrants on board, they would not get there for at least a day.

By sending more troops to the US-Mexico border, deploying military planes to deport migrants, and setting up military sites to house them, the Trump administration has enlisted the support of the US military to further its immigration agenda.

Illegal migrants have been transported by deportation planes to Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras. According to the report, India is the furthest the aircraft will go since the Trump administration returned.

US immigration authorities confirmed that the migrants were part of a crackdown on illegal immigration, a key policy priority of the Trump-era approach that appears to be resurfacing in recent months. The deportation flight follows a series of raids conducted across multiple states, targeting individuals who had entered the country unlawfully or overstayed their visas.

"The operation aligns with our commitment to enforcing immigration laws strictly and ensuring that individuals without legal status are returned to their home countries," a senior US official stated.

The Indian government acknowledged the deportees' arrival and stated that it was in touch with US authorities regarding the situation. Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the deported individuals would be processed under Indian legal procedures and offered necessary assistance.

This mass deportation comes amid growing concerns over the treatment of Indian migrants in the US. Over the years, a rising number of Indian nationals have attempted to enter the US illegally, often via dangerous routes through Central America. The latest deportation flight could signal stricter enforcement of immigration policies under a changing US political climate.
