On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Indian students seeking a master's degree in France will henceforth be granted a five-year long-term post-study visa. Previously, Indian students were granted a two-years work visa.

PM Modi made the announcement during his speech to the Indian community at Paris's La Seine Musicale. The people gathered there also gave him a warm greeting.

"When I last visited France, it was decided that Indian students studying in France would be granted a two-year post-study work visa. It has now been decided that Indian students pursuing Masters in France will be granted a five-year post-study visa," Modi remarked.

The honorable prime minister also stated that "an agreement has been made in France for the use of India's UPI...It will begin with the Eiffel Tower, and Indian tourists will be able to make payments in Rupees via UPI at the Eiffel Tower."

The Prime Minister was greeted ceremoniously at the airport upon his arrival in Paris on Thursday for a two-day official visit. At the airport, he was greeted by French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

He attended the French National Day Parade alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, describing it as a demonstration of the "unbreakable friendship between India and France."
