PM Modi-Putin Meeting: Russia Agrees to Discharge All Indians Recruited by Its Army

President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had discussions during Modi's visit to Moscow, and as a result, Russia has decided to release all Indian nationals serving in Russia’s army. In Russia's conflict with Ukraine, at least two Indian citizens have died in battle, and many more who are trapped in the conflict zone claim they were tricked into joining the fight.

According to sources, more than 200 Indians have been recruited as support staff by the Russian Army. Nonetheless, due to military unit mobility and inadequate communications, it has been challenging for Indian authorities to get in touch with Indian citizens who are allegedly serving on the front lines.

Numerous Indian citizens were tricked into accepting positions in the Russian military by recruitment agents situated in India and Dubai. Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) exposed a human trafficking network covering multiple states. The network recruited young men via social networking platforms and agents, offering them high-paying positions in Russia.

The discharge of Indian nationals from the Russian military marks a significant achievement in Indo-Russian relations, showcasing the power of diplomacy in resolving complex international issues.
