After arriving in Washington, D.C., on Thursday morning (IST), Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Tulsi Gabbard, the recently elected director of national intelligence. Modi has a full itinerary in the US, including meetings with President Donald Trump, and this was one of the first of many.

 

PM Narendra Modi shared a brief video of his conversation with Tulsi Gabbard. He said he spoke with her about the friendship between the US and India and congratulated her on her appointment as Trump's Director of National Intelligence. "Met USA's Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard in Washington DC," he wrote in a post on X. commended her for receiving confirmation. talked about the bond between India and the United States, of which she has always been a fervent supporter.

 

During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump. In the latter's second term as US president, this will be Modi and Trump's first formal meeting.

 

In his statement, Modi said he was "looking forward" to meeting Trump and talking about India-US relations. "Landed in Washington DC a short while ago," he wrote on X. I am looking forward to meeting President Donald Trump and expanding the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the United States and India. For the benefit of our citizens and a brighter future for the earth, our countries will continue to collaborate closely. @realDonaldTrump

 

Following Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, Modi will be among the first international leaders to meet with him. According to a news agency PTI report, the visit is anticipated to centre on a broad variety of bilateral matters, with experts expecting that delicate subjects may also be brought up during the talks.
