Climate Activists Target London Airport in Protest, Mistakenly Targeting Taylor Swift's Jet
Climate activists affiliated with the group Just Stop Oil gained access to Stansted Airport, northeast of London, on Thursday in a protest against fossil fuel use. The group aimed to target Taylor Swift's private jet, which they believed was stationed there.
While the activists successfully breached the security fence and spray-painted orange paint on multiple private jets, reports indicate that Taylor Swift's aircraft was not present at the airport at the time. This incident comes amidst criticism Swift has faced for her frequent use of private jets, which contribute significantly to carbon emissions.
The protest aimed to pressure the British government into legally mandating a phase-out of fossil fuels by 2030. Two women, aged 22 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and interfering with national infrastructure. This follows the group's similar action at Stonehenge the day before.
