Wipro Ltd resisted its former chief financial officer, Jatin Dalal's request for arbitration. Instead the company wanted to have the case settled in a court of local jurisdiction.

The majority of the parties' agreements called for arbitration to be used to address disputes, and this is what the court, presided over by justice K. Doddegowda, decided.

Arbitration is a procedure through which a legal disagreement can be settled between parties without going to court by an unbiased third party within a set amount of time.

The company contended that the terms expressed a preference for arbitration to be used as a means of dispute resolution rather than Bengaluru courts.

Justice Doddegowda's decision, however, rejected this argument, noting that every agreement—apart from one—contained an arbitration resolution clause.

Both parties have agreed to choose a single arbitrator in Bengaluru, and the matter will now be managed in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Act, 2015.

Dalal is one of the 22 elite executives of Wipro ,who held the position of senior vice president or higher.
