In their first joint interview, Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump told Fox News that Musk, as the co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is there to give the Republican leader "technical help." Musk informed the media outlet that ensuring the correct execution of presidential executive orders is one of the DOGE team's primary responsibilities.
The Tesla CEO claimed to be there to "give the president with technical help" while sporting the phrase "tech support" written on his T-shirt.
Musk, who has been increasingly vocal about his political views, did not specify the exact nature of his involvement but suggested that his expertise could help streamline government functions. “Just making sure things get implemented efficiently,” Musk posted on his platform, X (formerly Twitter), in response to a question about his role in Trump’s policies.
The comment has raised eyebrows, especially given Musk’s prior criticisms of government regulations and intervention in business affairs. However, his growing ties with conservative political figures have fueled speculation about his potential influence in a future Trump administration.
While Musk has not formally endorsed Trump, he has clashed with the Biden administration on several issues, including electric vehicle policies, labor laws, and artificial intelligence regulations. His recent meetings with Republican leaders have also signaled a shift toward more active political engagement.
Trump’s campaign has yet to confirm any formal collaboration with Musk, but sources suggest that the two have discussed matters related to social media, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Some reports indicate that Musk’s involvement could extend to advising on digital governance and national infrastructure projects.
With the 2024 presidential election results still shaping the political landscape, Musk’s statement fuels ongoing debates about the intersection of technology, politics, and power in modern governance.
