New Delhi: Late on Friday, former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh took to social media to dispel rumors about his potential candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Gurdaspur, Punjab. Contrary to widespread media reports, Singh unequivocally affirmed that he had no intention of entering the political arena. Instead, he expressed his commitment to persist in his philanthropic endeavors through his foundation, You We Can.

Addressing the swirling speculation in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Yuvraj Singh clarified, "Contrary to media reports, I'm not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation You We Can. Let's continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities."

Reports had previously emerged, suggesting Singh's potential candidacy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after his recent meeting with BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. However, Singh's unequivocal clarification put an end to the conjecture surrounding his political aspirations.

As one of India's cricketing icons, Yuvraj Singh's journey, marked by stellar performances in the 2011 World Cup and his subsequent battle with cancer, followed by a triumphant return to the sport, has made him an emblem of resilience and inspiration. Despite fans anticipating his entry into politics, his dedication to charitable work underscores his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in society, both on and off the field.
