In the West Bengal and Tamil Nadu assembly elections, voters have broken all the records till date regarding voting. In the first phase of voting in West Bengal, 91.83 percent voting has been done till 7 pm, while in Tamil Nadu, the total voting percentage till 7 pm has been 84.73 percent. This is the highest voting percentage in all the elections held in both the states till date. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has given his reaction to the record voting in these two states.
He said that I salute the voters of these two states. West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have the highest voting percentage since independence. The ECI salutes every voter of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
According to the data till 7 pm, Tamil Nadu recorded a total voter turnout of 84.73 per cent this time, which is 12.8 per cent more than the 71.8 per cent voting in 2021. At the same time, in the first phase in West Bengal, 91.83 per cent voting was recorded in 2026, while in 2021 this figure was 84.6 per cent. In this way, the voting percentage in the first phase in West Bengal is 7 percent more.
Let us tell you that in the first phase, the total voting in West Bengal till 5 pm has been 89.93 percent, which was 11.91 percent more than 77.99 percent in 2021. It is being said that the benefit of a large number of voters can be more for one party. If this happens, then winning by a big margin for a party can be just a formality. On May 4, it will be clear whether this time the public has voted for change or to bring Didi to power once again.
But at the moment, the way voters are leaving their homes even this summer, it will definitely decide the new contours of politics in the state.
