Independent candidate Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, won the Purnia constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with 567,556 votes, defeating JD(U)'s Santosh Kumar by 23,847 votes.

In Purnia Constituency 2024 Lok Sabha Election Results, Rajesh Ranjan Alias Pappu Yadav who stood as an independent candidate was declared the winner, securing 567556 votes and surpassing Santosh Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) by 23847 votes.

Purnia, the largest city in northeastern Bihar, is a crucial transit point for routes to Nepal and Northeast India. It is a divisional headquarters, covering Araria, Purnia, Katihar, and Kishanganj districts. Located on the eastern bank of the Saura River, Purnia plays a key role in regional connectivity.

 

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, JD(U) candidate Santosh Kumar Kushwaha won with 632,924 votes, followed by Congress's Uday Singh with 369,463 votes and independent candidate Shubhash Kumar Thakur with 31,795 votes.
