Former AIADMK Leader Switches Sides After Expulsion

Former Tamil Nadu CM O. Panneerselvam joins DMK along with supporters.

O. Panneerselvam Joins DMK in Presence of MK Stalin

Veteran leader O. Panneerselvam, who was expelled from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has joined the party in the presence of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin. While going to the DMK headquarters, Jayalalithaa's picture was seen in her car. He was once one of the closest leaders to J Jayalalithaa. He was a minister in his government.

O. Panneerselvam has been the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. In the year 2022, he was expelled by the AIADMK due to anti-party activities. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he contested as an independent candidate but did not win. It is now believed that he has joined the DMK to save his politics.

In the last few months, he had met Stalin several times and expressed his displeasure against the current AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami. O. Panneerselvam's supporters also joined the DMK with him. Some MLAs had already resigned and made their way into the DMK.
