Sonia Gandhi, a long-time MP from Rae Bareli, has now gone to the Rajya Sabha. After his departure, Congress was unable to find a candidate who could carry forward his legacy. Rahul Gandhi had lost the last general elections from Amethi. The Congress is looking for a new candidate for the seat.
Candidates not found in these high-profile seats
1.Rabareli
2.Prayagraj
3.Kaiserganj
4.Phulpur
5.Kaushambi
Why is the BJP not fielding a candidate?
With Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi leaving the seat, the Congress is taking time to choose a new candidate, but the BJP is also not able to decide on candidates on these seats. These seats of UP have been occupied by the Congress for a long time and the BJP now wants to make its stronghold here. In Amethi, the BJP has been successful in doing so to a large extent, but in Rae Bareli and other seats too, the party wants to field similar candidates. Apart from this, both parties can decide their strategy after seeing each other's candidate. Due to this, both parties are delaying the announcement of the candidates.
Why aren't sitting MPs ticketed?
Sonia Gandhi, of Rae Bareli, no longer runs for Lok Sabha. Rajasthani Rajya Sabha MP. Prayagraj MP Rita Bahuguna is above 70, and the Bharatiya Janata Party doesn't give tickets to politicians beyond 70. Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was wrestling association president. The nation's top wrestlers protested and made serious accusations against him last year. This controversial figure is not winning BJP seats. Keshavi Patel won big in Phulpur in 2019, but the party can now nominate a new candidate. In Kaushambi, Rajabhaiyya's politics could cost current MP Vinod Sonkar his ticket, and the BJP may support or field him.
