Fatehgarh Sahib is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in region of Punjab in North India. It is also a sacred pilgrimage site of the Sikh religion. It is the headquarters of Fatehgarh Sahib district, located about 5 km north of Sirhind. Fatehgarh Sahib is named after Guru Gobind Singh's 7-year-old son Fateh Singh, who was captured and buried alive along with his 9-year-old brother Zorawar Singh by the Mughals under the orders of Governor Wazir Khan during the ongoing Mughal-Sikh war in the early 18th century. After the delimitation in 2008, Fatehgarh Sahib was made a new parliamentary seat, this safe seat was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009. The Congress won the seat, while the AAP retained the seat.
