New Delhi: Mahua Moitra, the former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP, has once again sought relief from the High Court in the matter of being evicted from a government bungalow. The notice to vacate the premises, received on January 16, 2024, has led to the listing of his case before Justice Girish Kathpalia in the Delhi High Court, as reported by news agency ANI. Notably, the Estate Directorate issued the eviction notice to the TMC leader, prompting action to ensure swift vacation of the government bungalow. Information on this development was conveyed to news agency PTI by sources within the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. According to PTI-Bhasha, a notice instructing Moitra to vacate the bungalow was issued on Tuesday, and a team of officers from the Estate Directorate is poised to expedite the eviction process.

The dynamic leader from West Bengal, a key member of Chief Minister Mamata's party, faced expulsion from the Lok Sabha on December 8, 2023. According to sources, the TMC MP has received a directive to promptly vacate the government bungalow, initially allocated to the leader as an MP.

Previously, their allocation had been revoked, with a deadline set for vacating the bungalow by January 7. On January 8, the Estate Directorate issued a notice, demanding an explanation within three days regarding the failure to vacate the government residence. Subsequently, on January 12, another notice was served to the TMC leader.
