Durvijay Singh Shakya, the regional president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Braj region, has been given a ticket to contest the Badaun Lok Sabha election.

Durvijay Singh Shakya, the regional president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Braj region, has been given a ticket to contest the Badaun Lok Sabha election. 


The BJP has denied ticket to Badaun MP Sanghmitra Maurya. Durvijay Singh Shakya has taken over for him.

 

Who is Durvijay Singh and why has he been given a ticket? 


Durvijay Singh Shakya was born on 12 February 1977 in the village Brahmpur of block Samarer of the Budaun district in the family of legitimate Ramlal Shakya. 


Shakya completed his education till the fifth grade from his village Brahmapur. After this, he went to Bareilly for his higher education. He then pursued higher education, BEd, MA (Political Science) degree in Law and PG Diploma in Journalism. He is a teacher at the Bishop Mandal Inter College in Bareilly. He married Mona Bhatia, a Punjabi resident of Bareilly, Mona Bhatia is also a teacher in upper primary school.


Shri Shakya became a volunteer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1994. He started his political and social life by joining the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad from the student life in 1995. He first became the joint minister of Bareilly College unit in 1995. In the year 1997, he was also the Metropolitan General Secretary, Metropolitan Vice President, Department Convener and State Co-Minister in the Student Council in Bareilly.


In 2001, he took charge as an extension of the student council in Shahjahanpur. He took the responsibility of the organization minister of Moradabad - Rampur division as a full - time worker in Vidyarthi Parishad since 2002. Durvijay Singh Shakya was arrested in 2002 during the stone-pulling event of the Ram temple movement and spent 14 days in jail.


Political Career


In 2007, he was asked by the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest from the Ushait assembly constituency and he did not contest the election as he came to the area for preparation and then went to the Ushait assembly seat alliance. In 2007, he became the regional president of the BJP Yuva Morcha. He built a strong team by connecting thousands of youth workers with the BJP Yuva Morcha. In 2012, the state co-convener of the backward cell became the BJP. In 2014, he became the vice-president of the Panchal area. He became the general secretary of the Braj region in 2016 and vice-president in 2020.

 

After this, he has been holding the responsibility of the president of the BJP Braj region since March 2023. In the recently concluded urban body elections under the leadership of Durvijay Singh Shakya, unprecedented results came from the Braj region. They are considered to be good organizers and efficient strategists. They have basically been doing politics for a long time with the Sangh ideology. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded a long-time loyalist as its candidate for the Badaun Lok Sabha seat.


The father's rebellion affects Sanghmitra Maurya

Sanghmitra Maurya is the sitting MP from Badaun Lok Sabha seat. She is the daughter of Swami Prasad Maurya. He had to bear the brunt of his father's rebellion. Dr. Sanghamitra was elected as Zila Panchayat member in the year 2010 in Etah. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she contested against Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav as a candidate from Mainpuri but lost. In 2019, the BJP gave him a ticket from Badaun. The Badaun seat was held by the SP since 1996. In this election, she won and the myth of SP was broken. On the other hand, his father joined the SP and spoke strongly against the Hindu society. Sanghmitra Maurya said that the party's decision is acceptable to them.
