Congress Faces Major Setback in State Assembly Elections as BJP Sweeps Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh

In a significant blow to the Congress party, it suffered a major setback in the state assembly elections held in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh (MP), and Chhattisgarh. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in all three crucial states, marking a substantial boost for the ruling party just ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Congress party managed to secure a victory only in Telangana, surprising political analysts who expected regional parties to dominate in the state. Traditionally, regional parties have held power in Telangana for several years, but this time around, Congress secured an unexpected win with 64 seats.

The electoral battleground included five states – Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram. However, the counting for Mizoram is scheduled to take place tomorrow on December 4, 2023.

The BJP's dominance was evident in the results:

Madhya Pradesh (MP): BJP secured a commanding lead with 161 seats, while Congress lagged behind with 64 seats and 1 seat going to other parties.

Rajasthan: The BJP emerged victorious with 115 seats, leaving Congress with 70 seats, and 14 seats going to other parties.

Chhattisgarh: The BJP clinched victory with 53 seats, while Congress managed to secure 36 seats, and 1 seat went to other parties.

On the other hand, Congress celebrated its success in Telangana by winning 64 seats. BJP secured 9 seats, the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party (BRS) won 41 seats, and 1 seat was claimed by other parties.

As the political landscape undergoes a significant shift, the outcome of the Mizoram elections and the subsequent political maneuvers will be closely watched. The BJP's sweeping victories in Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh have set the stage for an intense political climate leading up to the much-anticipated 2024 general elections.
