The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the much-anticipated list of candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. With both states playing a significant role in the national political scenario, the bypolls are expected to set the tone for the forthcoming general elections in 2025.
The BJP announced its candidates for Chorasi in Rajasthan and Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, and Majhawan in Uttar Pradesh on the list that was made public on October 24.The Bharatiya Janata Party put up Ramvir Singh Thakur from Kundarki, Sanjeev Sharma from Ghaziabad, and Surendra Diler from Khair for the Uttar Pradesh by-elections. In the Uttar Pradesh by-elections, Anujesh Yadav will run from the Karhal seat, Deepak Patel from Phulpur, Dharmraj Nishad from Katehari, and Suchismita Maurya from Majhawan.
The BJP put forward Jagmohan Meena from Dausa, Rajendra Bhambhu from Jhunjhunu, Sukhwant Singh from Ramgarh, Rajendra Gurjar from Deoli-Ujiara, Revant Ram Danga from Khinvsar, and Shanta Devi Meena from Salumbar in the previous list, which was released on October 19.
With the BJP banking on both new and seasoned candidates, the bypolls will be closely watched as they are expected to be an indicator of public sentiment ahead of the general elections. Both Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan hold critical importance in shaping the political landscape of the country, and the outcomes of these by-elections could signal early trends for 2025.
Nomination papers must be submitted by October 25. On November 13, voting will take place, and on November 23, the results will be announced.
