Barmer Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Rajasthan state in western India. It is the second largest parliamentary constituency with an area of 71,601 sq km. Both Jaisalmer and Barmer, the third and fifth largest districts of India, fall under this Lok Sabha constituency. In the 15 Lok Sabha elections held from 1957 to 2014, the Barmer Lok Sabha seat was held by the Congress nine times, the BJP twice, an Independent once, the BLD once, the RRP once and the Janata Dal once. Sonaram represented the seat for three consecutive terms from 1996-2004 on a Congress ticket. Col Sonaram Chaudhary is the BJP MP from this constituency.
