Arvind Kejriwal Summoned by ED: Delhi Court Sets March 16 Appearance

Court summons on ED's application, Kejriwal should appear on 16th

Kejriwal ignored the summons every time, calling it illegal. He had said that these summons are illegal but still he is ready to answer the questions of ED.

New Delhi. On the application of ED, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday sent summons to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal. The court has asked Kejriwal to appear before it on March 16. Before this, ED has sent 8 summons to CM Kejriwal. Kejriwal did not appear every time calling the summons illegal. He had said that these summons are illegal but still he is ready to answer the questions of ED. He had asked the ED for a date after March 12. Kejriwal had said that he would answer the questions through video conferencing.

ED has sent summons to Kejriwal 8 times

On repeated summons being sent by ED to Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party had raised the question on what basis is ED sending these summons. When ED itself has gone to court regarding this matter then why can't it wait. ED just wants to scare Arvind Kejriwal. The party says that the way the Supreme Court has given its verdict in Chandigarh, revenge is being taken from Arvind Kejriwal. If this was only a legal matter then ED would have waited for the court's decision. Aam Aadmi Party is not afraid of this.

Case of new liquor policy

On March 22, 2021, Manish Sisodia had announced a new liquor policy in Delhi. On 17 November 2021, the new liquor policy i.e. Excise Policy 2021-22 was implemented. After the new policy was introduced, the government came out of the liquor business, after which all the liquor shops went into private hands. The government's reasoning behind bringing this policy was that it would end the mafia rule and increase the government's revenue. However, the new policy remained controversial from the beginning. When the uproar increased, on July 28, 2022, the government canceled the new liquor policy and implemented the old policy again.
