A big controversy has arisen in West Bengal politics just before the elections. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has issued an alleged sting operation against Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief Humayun Kabir, accusing him of taking crores of rupees from the BJP and misleading Muslim votes. At the same time, amid these allegations, Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM has announced to break its alliance with Humayun Kabir's party.
AIMIM breaks alliance
In a statement issued by the AIMIM, it was said that the alleged revelations of Humayun Kabir have exposed the political fragile situation of the Muslims of Bengal. The party made it clear that it cannot associate itself with any statement or activity that would question the integrity and interests of the Muslim community.
The AIMIM said it will now contest the Bengal Assembly elections independently and will not form an alliance with any party. According to the party, despite decades of so-called "secular governments", Muslims in Bengal are still among the poorest, neglected and oppressed communities.
