4th phase of UP Lok Sabha elections: Polling is underway in 13 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the fourth phase.

The most important election is in Kannauj, where SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BJP's sitting MP Subrata Pathak are facing each other. The BJP has fielded sitting MP Rekha Verma from Dhaurahra, Sakshi Maharaj from Unnao, Ram Shankar Katheria from Etawah, Devendra Singh Bhole from Akbarpur, Jai Prakash Rawat from Hardoi and Arun Kumar Sagar from Shahjahanpur. A total of eight BJP MPs, including a Union Minister of State, are contesting in the fourth phase.

 

Annu Tandon is the SP candidate from Unnao against sitting MP Sakshi Maharaj. Sitting BJP MP Dr Ram Shankar Katheria is contesting from the Etawah Lok Sabha seat. Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni is the BJP candidate from Kheri.

 

Voters break silence, cast their votes:

 

Voting for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections began in Sitapur this morning. Voters rushed out of their houses. Total voter turnout in Sitapur Lok Sabha constituency till 11 am was 29.29 per cent. The voter turnout was around 14 per cent. However, as the day progressed, more and more voters turned out. People from a village situated on the island of Sharda river came to cast their votes by crossing the river. Most of the polling stations in the city were closed by 10 in the morning. In rural areas, the lines were even longer. People of one Majra Karmal Kuiyan of Bajnagar village in Pisawan block boycotted the vote by the villagers in the village village. There are 547 votes.

Villagers in Kiratpur Biharipur gram panchayat Ali Akbarpur Nawada in Jaitipur block of Shahjahanpur boycotted the polling as a cow shelter was not constructed. Only one vote was cast. The Jayantipura police chief said that the reason for the absence of voting is not clear yet. Senior officials have been informed.

BJP will win all 80 seats in UP: UP minister:

 

Minister of State in the state government Rajni Tiwari, along with his son Adi, reached the polling booth at Dhannupurwa Primary School and cast their votes. During this time, he stood in the queue of voters. He exercised his franchise when his turn came. The BJP won all 80 seats in the state. People are voting in favour of the BJP keeping in mind the welfare schemes launched by the Prime Minister for women, farmers and common people. Narendra Modi will become again Prime Minister.

 

Poll boycott in MLA's native village in Hardoi:

 

Villagers in Majhgaon village of Bilgram Mallawan, an assembly constituency in Mishrikh Lok Sabha constituency, boycotted voting as a kutcha road was not constructed. The village is the native village of BJP MLA Ashish Kumar Singh Ashu. Majra is an MLA from Devmanpur in this gram sabha. At booth number 138 of Majhgaon Devmanpur polling station, only two votes could be cast till 9:30 pm. The villagers protested for several hours. Anil Verma, the pradhan, said all villagers had boycotted the event. There are two votes on the explanation of BDO and SO. They are protesting on the road. It's been 35 years. The road has not been built. There is a road connecting Nirmal Nagar to Majhgaon Bansa. It is about 1300-1400 meters. There are 918 voters in the constituency. Sant Kumar, a resident of Majhgaon, said the road has been in a state of disrepair for 40 years. There are difficulties in commuting. We have informed the government several times. Applications have been submitted. There was no hearing. Hence, the people have rejected the proposal.

 

EVM malfunctions in Bahraich, voting affected for half an hour: 

 

In Bahraich, an EVM machine malfunctioned at a polling booth on Sadhan Cooperative Society in Nanpara town of Nanpara assembly constituency in the morning. In one booth, the post has also changed, after which the process of voting started. People stood in queues to cast their votes for over half-an-hour.

 

Poll boycott in Shahjahanpur:

 

Villagers in Kotha Manjha village in Jalalabad area of Shahjahanpur district boycotted the election and did not cast their votes. While 5% votes of Gram Panchayat Kola, Koli of the same village are being cast by the villagers. In Jalalabad Gram Panchayat Alhadadpur Baihari, villagers are not casting their votes.

 

Poll boycott in two villages of Sikandra Assembly constituency in Etawah:

 

Villagers of Pitabarpur Pailawar in Sikandra Assembly segment of Etawah Lok Sabha constituency boycotted polling. No votes were cast by 9 p.m. On information, Superintendent of Police Mahesh Kumar rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident. He reached the village and appealed to the people to cast their votes. However, polling did not take place. In Udanwapur village, voters boycotted the election due to non-construction of about 1.25 km road from Dilwal to Udanwapur. A total of 1011 votes have been cast since morning.

 

SP alleges bogus voting in Kannauj:


The SP has denied the allegations. In Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency's Chhibramau, police are giving red cards to SP workers at the behest of BJP president at booth number 331, SP's polling agent is also being harassed. In Tirwa of Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency, at booth number 475, 476, 477, 478, many workers including the BJP chairman have entered the booth, casting fake votes. Voting is underway at booth number 227,228 in Balha of Bahraich Lok Sabha constituency. EVM malfunction reported at booth number 234 in Mishrikh Lok Sabha constituency. The Election Commission should ensure free and fair polling.
