Diplomat, starring John Abraham, hit theaters on March 14, 2025. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film is based on the real-life story of Uzma Ahmad, an Indian woman who was deceived and forced into marriage by a Pakistani national, Tahir Ali, in Malaysia. The movie focuses on the courageous efforts of Indian diplomat JP Singh (played by John Abraham), who was posted at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and fought to bring Uzma back home safely. 

John Abraham delivers a superb performance as the sharp and determined diplomat. Instead of relying on action-packed sequences, *Diplomat* showcases a battle of intellect and strategy, making it an engaging political thriller. Sadia Khateeb impresses as Uzma Ahmad, bringing depth and emotion to her role. 

Shivam Nair’s direction is commendable, maintaining the film’s authenticity and intensity. While the first half is slightly slow, it sets up the gripping second half effectively. The technical aspects, including cinematography, editing, and background score, are well-executed. 

John’s role in *Diplomat* is inspired by the late Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, whose efforts in real-life cases of stranded Indians were widely appreciated. The film is a tribute to the power of diplomacy over conflict. 

*Verdict:Diplomat is a well-made thriller with strong performances and a compelling true story. Bru Times rates it 3.5 stars.However, the film has not generated much buzz, reflected in a business rating of just 1.5. Still, for those who enjoy political dramas, this is a must-watch.
