Extension Granted Amid Data Challenges in Recalculating Dues

The government has extended the deadline for Vodafone Idea’s AGR dues reassessment by three months.

DoT Extends Deadline for Vodafone Idea AGR Reassessment to June 30

There has been a new twist in the case of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues of Vodafone Idea (Vi). The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has now extended the deadline for the company's outstanding revaluation by three months and has now fixed June 30. This decision has been taken in view of the operational challenges and data constraints that have been taken.

In a report by Moneycontrol, sources have been quoted as saying that the responsibility of recalculating the dues of Vodafone Idea has been entrusted to the Controller of Communication Accounts (CCA) of the department.

Data challenges in the process have made the task quite difficult. This revaluation is between FY 2007 and 2019. The department is having a lot of trouble reconciling such old records and documents. In many telecom circles, Vodafone Idea has not been able to provide the required old records, which has slowed down the pace of calculation of license fee and spectrum usage fee (SUC).

Although the reassessment of the licence fee is almost complete, the calculation of the spectrum fee is still ongoing.
