Sumit Nagal Eyes Tokyo Olympics Berth, Needs Top-180 Ranking to Qualify

Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal is currently in contention to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. He will be aiming to secure his spot at the qualifiers which will be held in Doha, Qatar.
Sumit Nagal is an Indian professional tennis player. He is currently the No. 1 ranked Indian player with a career-high singles ranking of world No. 80 achieved on 15 April 2024.
Nagal achieved success early in his career, winning the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles title with Vietnamese Lý Hoàng Nam. He turned professional in 2015 and has since been a regular on the ATP Challenger Tour.

In 2019, Nagal made headlines when he defeated Roger Federer at the US Open, becoming the first Indian player to defeat a Big Three player at a Grand Slam event. This victory propelled him into the spotlight and raised expectations for his future success.

Nagal's ranking is crucial for his qualification chances. If he manages to climb up the rankings and stay within the top 180 by June 14, he will be eligible to participate in the qualifiers.
