Indian pacer Mohammed Shami announced his return to the Indian Cricket Team after recovering from his injuries

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has announced his return to cricket after a prolonged injury hiatus, much to the delight of fans and the cricketing fraternity. Shami shared a video of himself working out in the gym and bowling in the nets on his Instagram account.

Shami uploaded pictures from his training session late on Tuesday night, and the message made it quite evident what he was going to do. "Ball in hand and obsession in my heart, ready to turn the game," he added.

Shami has a serious chance of returning to the Indian team for the September 19 home Test series against Bangladesh. Before that, he must first demonstrate his match fitness in the Duleep Trophy, though. The four teams chosen by the national selectors will compete in a non-zonal format in this renowned competition, which is scheduled to start on September 4.

In November, Shami participated in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad against Australia, a match that India ultimately lost. It was his last competitive match. With an average of 10.70 and an economy rate of 5.26, Shami's pace and swing left both spectators and experts in awe as he claimed 24 wickets in only seven games, including three five-wicket hauls and a four-wicket haul. It was a tournament to remember. In the semifinals, he had the greatest results (7/57) against New Zealand.

His Achilles tendon injury necessitated surgery in February, and as a result, he was unable to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Gujarat Titans (GT) or the ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, which India won after defeating South Africa in the championship match.

Shami is regarded as one of the best pacers of the current age, with 448 wickets in 188 international matches, including 11 five-wicket hauls.
