India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the T20I series to seize an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel (2-30) added support to Bishnoi on Sunday, while pacers Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya split four wickets as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 161-9 in 20 overs.
Rain impacted the game twice, first when the start was delayed by 45 minutes without any overs. Later, it stopped the game for another 70 minutes, with India at 6-0 halfway through the first over of its chase.
The DLS method was used to reduce the match to eight overs with a target of 78 runs. India was now in need of 72 runs off 45 balls. Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal made 30 off 15 balls, and captain Suryakumar Yadav smashed 26 off 12 balls.
India raced to 81-3 in 6.3 overs with a stunning 22 from Hardik Pandya off nine balls. The first T20I match was won by India by 43 runs. On Tuesday, the third and last T20I match will take place in Pallekele as well.
