The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the states of Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala, as heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to lash these regions over the next 24 hours. Authorities in these states have ordered the closure of schools and advised residents to stay indoors as a precautionary measure.

In Maharashtra, particularly the coastal regions and parts of the Western Ghats, the IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall. Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad are among the districts expected to be most affected.In Goa, the state government has announced the closure of all educational institutions and urged tourists to remain cautious and avoid venturing into the sea.

In light of the severe weather conditions, the state governments of Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala have decided to shut down schools today to ensure the safety of students. Parents have been advised to keep their children at home and avoid non-essential travel.

Meanwhile, the national capital, Delhi, is expected to experience light showers today. The IMD has predicted scattered rainfall across the city, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. However, no severe weather warnings have been issued for Delhi, and the situation remains under control.
