Abhinav Bindra was born on September 28, 1982, in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He is a renowned Indian sport shooter known for his work in shooting sports in India. Abhinav completed his early schooling at The Doon School and St. Stephen's School, Chandigarh, and then graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder.


Bindra's shooting career is highlighted by his record-breaking triumph at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he captured India's first individual Olympic gold medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle competition. This victory was a landmark moment in Indian sporting history.


Apart from his sporting success, Bindra also set up the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, with a goal to inject sports science and technology into Indian sport and introduce high-performance training. His administration of sport includes being a member of the Athletes' Commission of the International Olympic Committee and being elected a goodwill ambassador of the Indian team for the 2016 Rio Olympics.


Bindra's legacy is not only his own awards; his career has influenced an entire generation of Indian sportspersons, showing the value of striving, hard work, and aiming for excellence in sport.


As an appreciation of his work for sports, Bindra was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor, by the Indian Government. His autobiography, "A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold," written in collaboration with sportswriter Rohit Brijnath, gives a glimpse into his life and passion for the sport.


Besides his sporting achievement, Bindra also established the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, with the mission of injecting sports science and technology into Indian sport and introducing high-performance training. His sport administration includes being a member of the International Olympic Committee Athletes' Commission and his appointment as the goodwill ambassador of the Indian team during the Rio Olympics 2016.


Bindra's legacy is not his individual awards alone; his career has inspired an entire generation of Indian athletes, showing the value of hard work, determination, and excellence in sport.
