Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a five-time Member of Parliament and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, secured a total of 11,16,460 votes, winning his sixth parliamentary election from the Vidisha constituency this year, according to the Election Commission of India. Chouhan's opponent, former Lok Sabha MP and veteran Congress leader Pratap Bhanu Sharma, lost by a margin of 8,21,408 votes. In the same election, a surprising development saw that Indore recorded 218,674 NOTA votes.
In the 2024 Uttar Pradesh elections, the Samajwadi Party emerged victorious, securing 37 seats and surpassing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which won 33 seats. BJP's allies, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Apna Dal (Sonelal) won 2 seats and 1 seat, respectively. Rahul Gandhi secured Rae Bareli with 687,649 votes, while BJP's Prof. S.P.
