At least 31 people were killed and 169 others injured in a suicide blast during Friday prayers in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. The blast took place at the Khadijatul Kubra Mosque-cum-Imambara in Islamabad's Tarlai area.
The suicide bomber blew himself up after being stopped at the entrance of the mosque. Eyewitnesses said the militants first opened fire and then detonated the bomb.
Pakistani troops cordoned off the area
Army personnel and Rangers have cordoned off the area and security operations are being carried out around the blast site. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Allama Raja Nasser Abbas condemned the attack.
