Udhampur Bus Accident: 21 Dead, 61 Injured

A passenger bus accident in Udhampur has claimed multiple lives, with rescue efforts carried out by locals and authorities.

Rescue Operations Launched After Major Accident in Jammu and Kashmir

Udhampur: A passenger bus met with an accident in Ramnagar Kaghot area of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. In this accident, 21 people died and 61 people were injured. After the accident, the administration team reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. According to the information, the bus was going from Ramnagar to Udhampur when the accident took place. 

 

The bus met with an accident at a dangerous turn on a hilly road in Ram Nagar area around 10 am, officials said. Locals were the first to reach the spot and pulled out the injured from the debris while initiating rescue operations.

 

Soon after, police and other emergency teams rushed to the spot and intensified operations to evacuate the victims and evacuate the site. The accident took place when the bus was on its way to Udhampur from a remote village, officials said. 

 

PM Modi expresses grief over the accident, announces compensation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident. He has announced compensation for the families of the deceased and the injured. PM Modi said that he was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of life due to the bus accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this accident.

 

I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each person who lost their lives in this tragic accident. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.
