36 devotees injured after two Amarnath Yatra buses collided during a breakfast halt; rescue ops underway in Jammu & Kashmir.
The incident occurred near the Ramban district, a critical transit point along the Jammu-Srinagar highway. According to preliminary reports, both buses carrying pilgrims on the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage were parked at a dhaba for breakfast when one vehicle suddenly rolled and collided with the other due to a brake failure.
The impact left several passengers injured, many of whom were seated or stepping out at the time. Emergency services were called immediately, and both local authorities and disaster response teams rushed to the scene. Medical aid is being administered on-site and at nearby hospitals, with a few critically injured passengers airlifted for further treatment.
Officials have assured that there is no disruption in the ongoing Yatra, but safety audits are being conducted. The Jammu & Kashmir administration has initiated a probe into the cause of the accident and is reviewing travel protocols for the pilgrimage route.
The Amarnath Yatra, which attracts thousands of Hindu pilgrims each year, has always faced geographical and logistical challenges due to the tough terrain. This latest accident brings focus again to the importance of strict vehicle maintenance and driver preparedness during the yatra
season.
