In a shocking incident, at least 15 children were rescued by Mumbai Police after being held hostage in Powai. The swift action by law enforcement prevented a potential tragedy.

 

According to preliminary reports, the children were taken hostage in a residential area in Powai on Friday morning. Local residents alerted the police after hearing continuous cries for help from the building. The police immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a rescue operation with the help of the Quick Response Team (QRT).

 

Officials stated that all 15 children were safely rescued, and none sustained serious injuries. The suspect, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, was apprehended at the scene. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the crime and whether more people were involved.

 

Eyewitnesses reported chaos as terrified parents gathered near the building, anxiously waiting for updates. Police officers and rescue teams worked for over two hours to ensure the children’s safety.

 

The Mumbai Police Commissioner praised the officers for their courage and quick response, ensuring that the situation did not escalate further. The rescued children have been taken for medical evaluation and trauma counselling.

 

The incident has sparked outrage and renewed discussions about child safety and mental health awareness in urban areas. Authorities have assured citizens that enhanced safety measures will be implemented in residential complexes across

the city.
