INS Talwar is the lead ship of the Talwar-class frigates of the Indian Navy. It was commissioned on June 18, 2003, and was constructed by Russia's Baltisky Zavod shipyard as part of a deal between India and Russia for six frigates. It is part of the Indian Navy's Western Fleet, based in Mumbai under the Western Naval Command.
