Dehradun IT Park Submerged: Floods Destroy Homes, 3 Dead

Dehradun IT Park submerged in heavy floods, several houses destroyed, and 3 people killed in the tragic incident.

The flooding in Dehradun has caused widespread devastation, with many families losing their homes overnight. The IT Park area, a hub of commercial and residential development, has been completely submerged, leaving both infrastructure and livelihoods in danger.

According to local authorities, continuous heavy rainfall led to the overflowing of nearby water channels, causing water to gush into residential areas and IT facilities. At least three people lost their lives, while many others have been reported injured or missing. Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are actively carrying out relief operations.

Several houses near the IT Park have collapsed due to waterlogging and weakened foundations. Residents were seen wading through waist-deep water, carrying their belongings in a desperate attempt to save themselves. Emergency shelters have been set up by the administration to provide food and safe housing for those displaced.

The Uttarakhand government has announced compensation for the families of the deceased and assured all possible support for rehabilitation. Experts warn that unplanned construction and poor drainage systems have worsened the flooding situation in Dehradun, raising concerns about the city’s preparedness for extreme weather events.

This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for better urban planning, disaster management, and infrastructure resilience in flood-prone regions like Uttarakhand.
