Owaisi Tears Into PM Over CJI 'Shoe Attack' Bid

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly condemned the attempted ‘shoe attack’ on Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, expressing deep concern over the growing disrespect for constitutional institutions.

Owaisi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the matter, calling it an alarming reflection of political intolerance and disregard for the judiciary’s dignity.

During a public address in Hyderabad, Owaisi questioned why the Prime Minister has not spoken about such a disgraceful act against the head of the Indian judiciary. He said that silence from the nation’s top leadership only emboldens those who spread hate and disrespect towards constitutional figures.

Owaisi further stated that the attack symbolizes the declining moral standards in public discourse and the failure of political leaders to uphold democratic values. He urged for immediate and strong condemnation from all parties, emphasizing that attacks—verbal or physical—on judicial independence threaten the very foundation of democracy.

He also called for the investigation to be handled with transparency, ensuring the perpetrators face strict legal consequences. “If the Chief Justice of India can be targeted like this, what message does it send about the safety and respect of our institutions?” Owaisi questioned.

Political analysts have echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that rising hostility and polarization in public debate are eroding India’s democratic framework. The incident has reignited discussions about the government’s role in ensuring respect and protection for constitutional autho

rities.
