Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. Known as the voice of Assam and one of the most versatile musicians of India, Garg’s death has left the nation in mourning. Modi said that Zubeen Garg’s songs transcended boundaries and touched millions of hearts across languages and generations.

 

The Prime Minister noted that Zubeen Garg was not just a singer but also a cultural icon who showcased the richness of Assamese and Indian music to the world. His contribution in blending folk, classical, and modern music was extraordinary, making him a true legend in the music fraternity.

 

Modi further added that the loss of Zubeen Garg is an irreparable one for the nation’s art and culture. He conveyed his deepest sympathies to the singer’s family, friends, and countless fans who admired him as a source of inspiration and pride.

 

Zubeen Garg, often called the ‘heartthrob of Assam,’ gave the world unforgettable songs, including film soundtracks and independent music albums that remain etched in the memories of his listeners.
