Amritsar Probe Traces Suspicious Senders to South India, Confirms Police Chief

The ongoing investigation into a series of suspicious packages and digital threats received in Amritsar has taken a new turn, with authorities now tracing their origin to South India, according to Amritsar Police Commissioner. This revelation came during an official press briefing where he highlighted fresh forensic and digital evidence obtained during the probe.

Officials stated that initial findings from IP tracking, phone metadata, and postal records suggest that the senders involved in the recent disturbances may be operating from states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, or Karnataka. The nature of the materials sent and the targeted recipients have prompted coordination between Punjab Police and law enforcement agencies in South India.

The police chief emphasized that although no direct arrests have been made yet, teams have been dispatched to key locations in the south for verification, digital tracking, and interrogation of possible suspects. "The inter-state connection is now undeniable, and our focus is on cooperation across jurisdictions," he added.

Investigators are also examining whether the motive was ideological, political, or linked to criminal rackets, including possible involvement in anti-national activities or coordinated mischief. Surveillance has been intensified across postal hubs and online communication channels.

This case highlights the growing complexity of cyber-physical threats in India, where regional boundaries often blur in digital operations. Authorities have urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity as the investigation unfolds.
