The Karnataka State Health Department in association with NIMHANS and Dementia India Alliance, is all set to launch a 'Karnataka Dementia Action Plan'.
Karnataka is aiming to make dementia a top health priority, despite the fact that a national dementia action plan has not yet been created. A "Karnataka State Dementia Action Plan" is about to be unveiled by the State Health Department in collaboration with NIMHANS and the Dementia India Alliance (DIA).
About Dementia
Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning thinking, remembering, and reasoning to such an extent that it interferes with a person's daily life and activities.
Cause
*Dementia is caused by damage to or loss of nerve cells and their connection in the brain.
*The symptoms depend on the area of the brain that's damaged.
Symptoms
*Experiencing memory loss, poor judgment, and confusion
*Difficulty speaking, understanding and expressing thoughts, or reading and writing
*Wandering and getting lost in a familiar neighbourhood
*Trouble handling money responsibility
*Repeating questions
Treatment
Most types of dementia can't be cured, but there are ways to manage symptoms through medicines like Donepezil and Galantamine and Memantine.
