Kanpur: Anant Pratap Singh For the inhabitants of Kanpur and the surrounding areas, there is good news. Patients suffering from burns in an accident will no longer need to travel to private hospitals or other locations to receive treatment, as Hallet Hospital in Kanpur is preparing to open a 50-bed burn and plastic surgery department where patients will receive the best care possible for all kinds of burns.
Patients with burns are now treated in a burn ward at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, which is managed by Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College, Kanpur. The college administration is currently getting ready to turn this burn ward into a department. 90% of the civil work for this has also been finished. This department is set to open later this year, subject to government approval.
Patients will receive all facilities
Since they won't need to travel to private hospitals for treatment, where they can receive a wide range of top-notch care, burn sufferers will find this section to be very handy. They would have access to ICU facilities while lying in bed. Furthermore, ventilator-equipped ICU beds will be available, which will further facilitate the life-saving efforts of critically ill patients.
The GSVM Medical College principal, Prof. Sanjay Kala, stated that a section dedicated to color and plastic surgery is being established from the burn ward. Staff with training and additional faculty members have also been in demand. According to him, there are now no state medical colleges that provide this department. The establishment of this X department will begin at Kanpur Medical College, which will be the first medical college.
