Smytten: Discover New Favorites with Trial Packs

Smitten with the idea of trying new beauty products before committing to full-size versions? Let's discover the truth behind Smytten's free trials products.

About Smytten

In November 2015, Swagata Sarangi and Siddhartha Nangia, both graduates of the Indian School of Business (ISB), established Smytten with the intention of resolving all of the issues that were present in the field of product trials in India. Together, they have more than 25 years of experience working for organizations such as Google, McKinsey, and Unilever.

In May 2022, Smytten raised Rs 100 crore (around $15 million) in its funding round led by its existing investors Fireside Ventures and Roots Ventures. To transform consumer analytics and research for FMCG brands, Smytten launched the AI-powered platform Smytten Pulse in September 2023.

Partnership
In May 2023, Legend 1942 partnered with Smytten. Legend 1942 is a collaborative effort by Amitabh Bachchan and Anuradha Sansar who represents a collective of seasoned fragrance makers with over a 100 years of expertise under their belts.

In June 2024, Smytten opened its First Product Trial Experiential Store at Phoenix Citadel Mall, Indore.

In April 2024, Smytten partnerred with QueueBuster, a point-of-sale (POS) solution company. The partnership is for a comprehensive suite of services, including billing, inventory management, and customer relationship management (CRM).

Smytten Claims

“We are India’s largest premium discovery and trial platform where you can enjoy a specially curated online shopping experience hassle-free.” They offer to try Amazing Products From India’s Top Brands. Smytten provides 100% Authentic And Genuine Trial Packs. Smytten offers a unique shopping experience that caters to those who want to experiment with different brands and products.

Trial Packs Galore:  Smytten boasts thousands of trial packs from over 500 premium Indian and International brands. This extensive selection allows you to explore a wide range of products across skincare, makeup, fragrances, men's grooming, baby care, haircare, and even lifestyle categories like health, food, and beverages. Smytten provides 100% Verified Authentic products sourced straight from brands, with exclusive offers.

Does the website really provide free trials?

Free Trials with a Catch: Technically, Smytten doesn't offer completely free samples. However, they have a clever system using a point-based approach. You get six trial points upon signing up, which you can use to redeem for trial packs. There is a servicing and shipping fee for a trial order, but here's the good news: you get 100% cashback in the form of store credit to use towards full-size purchases of the products you loved in your trial box. Moreover, they also offer 6 trial products at the total cost Rs. 99. The actual cost of the six products may have exceeded Rs. 1000. I think this is not a bad deal.

How do Smytten Free Trials work?

Step 1 – Open the Smytten App & Register to become a Member.
Step 2 – Once you are a member, you automatically unlock 6 Trial Points.
Step 3 – Use these trial points at checkout to order upto 6 Free Trials.
Step 4 – Make a purchase with your 100% cash back and get more Trial Points.
Step 5 – You may Repeat this to explore new products.

Curated Shopping Experience:  Beyond trials, Smytten also functions as a regular online shopping platform. They offer a curated selection of products from trusted brands like MamaEarth, Plum, MyGlamm, Biotique, Innisfree, and more. This ensures you're getting genuine and high-quality items.

More Than Beauty: While beauty takes center stage, Smytten caters to a wider audience. Their lifestyle section allows you to explore new food and beverage options, health products, and even baby care items through trial packs.

So, is Smytten worth checking out? If you're in India and love trying new products before investing in full sizes, then absolutely. The trial system allows for exploration with minimal financial risk, and the curated shopping experience ensures you're browsing high-quality brands. Just remember, the "free" trials come with servicing and shipping fee, but you get that amount back as store credit to use on purchases you love.
