Kanpur Airport: A plot of land in Mawaiya village, next to the airport, measuring 20.266 hectares (50 acres), has been bought in order to extend the Chakeri Airport in Kanpur and provide freight aircraft services from here to other metropolises in the nation. Currently spanning 50 acres, the airport has intentions to expand its overall size by another two times. It will take up a total of 100 acres.
When Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the city a few days ago, the district administration gave a presentation in this regard. In the next few days, the current airport's area will quadruple in this manner. The rationale for this effort is that, in addition to passenger flights, cargo flights are intended to be launched in order to boost Kanpur's industries.
It was also disclosed that the airport at Kanpur will have connections to the nation's main metropolises. At the moment, the airline flies to Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. Soon, flights to Hyderabad will also be available. In addition, arrangements will be made for airplanes to land at night.
Adani Group assumes control of the business According to reports, Kanpur Airport may soon operate under the PPP model, similar to Lucknow Airport. The Adani Group is in charge of running the Lucknow airport.
A total of 20.266 hectares of both public and private land in the rural Mawaiya area have been suggested for the airport's development. The majority of the land is already owned. The remainder will shortly be finished.
The central government was presented with a demand for the night time flight operations and the extension of Kanpur airport. The national government and the state administration are developing a strategy to fly Kanpur to all of the nation's main cities.
