In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Gopal Jee Thakur of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Darbhanga constituency with 566,630 votes, defeating Lalit Kumar Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by 178,156 votes.

In Darbhanga Constituency 2024 Lok Sabha Election Results, Gopal Jee Thakur of the Bharatiya Janata Party is declared the winner, securing 566630 votes and surpassing Lalit Kumar Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by 178156 votes.

Darbhanga district, the heart of Mithila culture, is famous for producing mangoes and makhana. The area is notably influenced by Yadavs, Muslims, and Brahmins. The constituency has around 350,000 Muslim voters, and approximately 300,000 each of Yadav and Brahmin voters. Additionally, there are about 100,000 Rajput and Bhumihar voters from the General castes. The total population of the Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency is 1,307,067.

 

In the 2019 election, a close contest occurred between Abdul Bari Siddiqui of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Gopal Ji Thakur of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Ultimately, BJP's Gopal Ji Thakur won the Darbhanga seat with 586,668 votes, while RJD's Abdul Bari Siddiqui came in second with 318,689 votes.
