A special tree planting program was organized at Buddha Jayanti Garden, which is located on Delhi's Central Ridge, and over a thousand Amaltas trees were planted in the park. Buddha Jayanti Park plays an important role in keeping the environment pollution free. A special tree planting program was organized at Buddha Jayanti Garden, which is located on Delhi's Central Ridge, and over a thousand Amaltas trees were planted in the park. Under the direction of Buddha Jayanti Park president, environmentalist, and sculpture artist Neeraj Gupta, this tree plantation effort was accomplished successfully. This section of the ridge is a plateau where no other form of tree or plant can grow since the high temperature and geographical position do not create a favorable climate for tree plants to develop, yet Amaltas trees thrive here.

The Buddha Jayanti Smarak Park was established in 1962 to commemorate the completion of two and a half thousand years of Gautam Buddha, for which financial assistance was provided by the Government of Japan. It is located in the heart of New Delhi, India, on the Delhi Ridge. It takes up over a km on the eastern side of Vandemataram Marg, commonly known as Upper Ridge Road. M. M. Rana, an Indian architect, designed it on the 2500th anniversary of Gautama Buddha's enlightenment. On October 25, 1964, then-Indian Prime Minister Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri planted a sapling of the Sri Lankan Bodhi Tree here.

At present, the responsibility of maintaining this park is with CPWD. Famous for its beauty and greenery, this park plays an important role in keeping Delhi's environment pollution free. This park had fallen into disrepair due to poor management till nearly a decade ago, but with the involvement and hard work of Neeraj Gupta and the assistance of the CPWD, it has begun to turn green again. To make Mahatma Buddha's sermons more available to the general public, his sermons have been written in the park so that visitors might take good things along with the pure air.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his friend, Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan visited to the Bal Bodhi Tree in Delhi's Buddha Jayanti Park in March 2023.
