US Vice President JD Vance will undertake a diplomatic tour of India from April 18 to 24 as part of his second foreign trip since taking office. He will be joined by Second Lady Usha Vance and their three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The visit includes New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, where the Vice President will have a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The tour consists of official interactions and cultural tours, in line with the family's own importance of the trip. Usha Vance, the first Indian-American Second Lady, will be making a visit to her country of origin for the very first time in her official role.
At their last meeting in Paris this year, Vice President Vance and Prime Minister Modi talked about joint initiatives to diversify India's energy resources, including investment in clean and secure US nuclear power.
The visit is designed to advance the US-India relationship, with a concentration on common economic and strategic interests. Besides formal meetings, the Vance family will sightsee cultural icons, such as the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Before arriving in India, the Vice President and his family will travel to Italy, where they will meet Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
