US Government Sues Adobe for Hidden Fees and Cancellation Headaches

The US government is suing Adobe over deceptive practices related to their subscription plans. The lawsuit alleges that Adobe hides early termination fees and makes it difficult for customers to cancel subscriptions, particularly for their popular "annual paid monthly" plan. The government seeks civil penalties, compensation for affected consumers, and an injunction to prevent Adobe from continuing these practices.

US Government Sues Adobe Over Hidden Fees and Difficult Cancellations

The US government filed a lawsuit against software giant Adobe on Monday, accusing them of deceptive practices related to their subscription plans. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleges that Adobe hides cancellation fees and makes it difficult for customers to cancel subscriptions, particularly for their popular "annual paid monthly" plan.

The FTC claims that Adobe buries these fees, which can be substantial, in the fine print of their agreements. Additionally, they allege that customers who attempt to cancel by phone encounter long wait times, repeated requests for information, and resistance from representatives.

The lawsuit argues that these practices are deceptive and have trapped consumers in year-long subscriptions they might not have otherwise chosen. The DOJ is seeking civil penalties, unspecified amounts of compensation for affected consumers, and a court order preventing Adobe from continuing these practices.
