US Woman, 18, Arrested For Calling 911 To Avoid Meeting Man She Met Online

Sumaya Thomas, an 18-year-old from Iowa, was arrested on June 16th for misusing emergency services after falsely claiming her ex-boyfriend was threatening her to avoid a date with a man she met online. Responding officers found no evidence of the reported threat and discovered the messages came from a different number. Thomas eventually admitted to fabricating the story and was charged with two counts of misdemeanor false reporting. This incident highlights the serious consequences of misusing emergency services.

Teenager Arrested for Faking Emergency to Avoid Date

 

An 18-year-old woman in Iowa, Sumaya Thomas, was arrested on June 16th for allegedly misusing emergency services. According to police reports, Thomas called 911 claiming her abusive ex-boyfriend was outside her residence and threatening her.

 

Responding officers arrived at the scene to find no evidence of the reported ex-boyfriend. Further investigation revealed the messages originated from a different number, and Thomas eventually admitted to fabricating the story. She reportedly told officers she got "cold feet" about meeting a man she met online and resorted to this ruse to avoid the date.

 

Thomas was arrested for two counts of misdemeanor false reporting. This incident highlights the importance of using emergency services appropriately and the potential consequences of misusing them.
